Pimple Treatment: Neosporin Antibiotic Ointment

COM
Whenever I get a pimple, I don't grab those acne spot treatments that can be found at drugstores. I found out that I'm allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide when one morning, I woke up and half my face was swollen, red and itchy. It was the most horrible morning ever. And to make matters worst, I had to try and find a way to subside the swell quick because I had to go to school.

Since Benzoyl Peroxide is the most effective pimple treatment, I really had a hard time finding a zit cream for me.

I came to accept what my mom has been telling me the whole time. To just dab my pimples with an antibiotic ointment. Well, since pimples are infections, antibiotic will heal it.

I use Neosporin Original First Aid Antibiotic Ointment.

Antibiotic ointments are pretty good in healing acnes. What I do is, after I clean my face with face wash and astringent or toner, I'd dab this onto my pimple. I'd put a bit of cotton on top of it and tape it with a Transpore or Micropore tape. Then, I'd go to sleep. Most of the time, the next morning when I wake up, it usually brings the pimple to a head. Sometimes, it even gets pop by itself. If it didn't brought the head out yet, don't worry. Just repeat the process every night until it comes out. Continue applying the ointment until it's completely healed.

I highly recommend this to those of you who, like me, get those huge sore cystic acne. Benzoyl peroxide doesn't actually heal cystic acnes since those kind of acne grows from the inside. Applying benzoyl peroxide on it will only dry out the skin, while the pimple is safely hidden underneath. Antibiotic ointments gets absorbed  in which eventually heal it or brings it to a head.

Quite disgusting to read about it here but it's effective.

Dr. Jart All Out Black Head

COM
Dr. Jart+ is a Korean brand. The company makes skin care products and cosmetics.

Searching for Asian blackhead treatments on the web, I found out that aside from nose strips, another popular treatment are these creams, balms or serums that say to push the blackheads out of the pores upon application or they'd dissolve the blackhead in your pores.. They sound too good to be true so I wanted to test it out.

I got Dr. Jart+ All Out Black Head.

The packaging is nice! Looks professional.

Here's the description and instruction from the back of the box...

It says it "dissolves" the blackheads and whiteheads.

I tried this on my nose. I applied one pump of this and massage the serum around my nose. I don't quite understand the instructions, so I just continue massaging my nose for around 8-10 minutes. While doing this, you can suddenly feel some texture forming on the serum. At first I wanted to believe that it's the blackheads that came out but, looking closely, I just realize those texture are just the bits of the serum that got built-up.

After rinsing this out of my nose, I really didn't notice anything different. It just made my skin softer. I was really disappointed that nothing really happened to the blackheads.

Kose Softymo Nose Clean Pack

COM

Here's an Asian brand blackhead nose strip - Kose Softymo Nose Clean Pack. This is a nose pore strip that'll strip blackheads off the nose. The funny description of this product says, "Kose Cosmeport Softymo Nose Clean Pack removes all dirt, impurities and blackheads from pore with no mercy." Take note on the "no mercy" part. Kose is a Japanese brand, by the way.

I know we are all used to pore strips that are color white, but this one is black. I noticed that most Asian blackhead treating product are black. It's black because it contains charcoal. The picture on the right are the actual nose strip. The grayish strip is the top part while the black one is the side you put on your nose. Once you got those in place, wet it a little all over then wait for it to dry.

Once it hardens, the exciting part comes! You can now peel it off.

Since it's black, it's easier for you to see the blackheads and oil stuck onto the strip.

As of any pore strip, I prefer using this after a warm bath. It's when our pores open up. I also use a facial mask before using a pore strip. The face mask helps soften up my skin which makes it better in using a pore strip.
