Coppertone Oil Free Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30

Among the first things I bought when I arrived here in Hawaii is a new bottle of sunscreen.

I chose Coppertone Oil Free Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 30 because of the word "oil free" on the label.

This sunscreen claims to be oil-free, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic.
It's also non-comedogenic or it won't clog pores. It has photostable broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Water resistant for 80 minutes. And has a light non-greasy formula.

I don't like the sunscreen smell, so I really love that this is really fragrance-free. I can't comment on it being hypoallergenic because I don't have sensitive skin.

This sunscreen is also non-comedogenic for me. It didn't cause me to break out (on my body), which is another plus.

The sunscreen isn't too thick compared to other sunscreens I have used. The consistency is like a creamy body lotion. It's easy to spread all over the body and doesn't leave a white cast. Sometimes, I like to add a bit of body lotion to this sunscreen for moisturizing, especially when I notice my skin to be drying. The body lotion also helps me spread the sunscreen more evenly all over my body.

After application, wait for 2-3 minutes for this product to sink in. It leaves a not-so-greasy finish.

I use this sunscreen for everyday, I slather it on every time I step outside my house. I didn't get burned when walking under the hot sun. (FYI, I get sunburned easily, if I forget to apply sunscreen, the exposed parts of my skin will turn red when I get home.)

I guess SPF 30 isn't enough, as much as I don't want to get a tan, my complexion still became darker even though I wear this sunscreen every time. And I avoid the beach as much as possible (even though it's just a few blocks away). When I do go to the beach, I go there in the morning, before 10am. I guess I really can't do anything about me gradually becoming tanned, especially when I live in a place where the sun is always shinning.

Here's the ingredient list:

Active Ingredients are:
Avobenzone 2%
Homosalate 13%
Octisalate 5%
Octocrylene 2%
Oxybenzone 4%

  1. You're so lucky to not have sensitive skin! Normally sunscreen breaks me out, but I'd rather have a few bumps than be burnt for a week. Neutrogena has a great spray on sunscreen that I like, and I believe the SPF you can get is 70 to 100!

    1. I don't have sensitive skin, but I'm oily/acne prone. I feel like I have the worst skin type :(
I haven't tried sunscreen sprays before. I'll be sure to look for those at my local drugstore.

    1. Sunscreen scent reminds me of the beach, but I'm not very fond of going to the beach lol. You are right about the perfume, it doesn't affect the smell of perfumes or body mists.

  4. Wonderful to use at the beach, poolside or as makeup base. Dries quickly and is not at all, greasy. Use it daily on my face and take it on vacation, for myself and the kids.
